The approach
The first import is a diagnostic step. Before designing an elaborate scene, check that the model, textures and proportions arrived as expected. A missing texture or an off-center pivot becomes harder to diagnose after lighting, motion and interaction have been layered on top.
Check the asset package
GLB commonly packages a glTF asset into one binary file, while a glTF file can reference separate resources. Keep any required textures and binary data together when preparing the source. Follow the upload formats and limits shown by Orbital for your account rather than assuming every file size is accepted.
Fix the source when the problem belongs to the source
Inspect orientation, scale and the model’s visual center. A camera framing problem may be solved in the scene, but broken UVs, unnecessary geometry or incorrectly exported material assignments are usually better corrected in the source tool. Keep an untouched original so you can compare exports.
A workflow to start with
Export a web-ready GLB or a complete supported glTF package.
Import into an otherwise simple Orbital scene.
Frame the full object and inspect textures from several angles.
Correct source issues, reimport, then begin materials and motion work.
Start with a specific request.
Inspect this imported model in a neutral studio view. Keep its proportions unchanged. Frame the full object, use simple lighting and identify whether the orientation, scale or material assignments need attention before adding effects.
Use this as a brief for scene work or AI assistance. Inspect the result in the editor; available AI tools depend on your account and plan. Before you publish
- Textures load in a fresh browser session.
- The model is centered well enough for the intended orbit.
- The file meets the current plan limit shown in the uploader.
Common questions
Why does the object seem to be missing?
Check its scale, position and camera framing first. A successful import can still place an object outside the current view.
Will export automatically reduce my texture sizes?
Do not assume it will. Orbital’s export panel notes that source assets should be optimized before upload when its report flags them.
